It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about current events. Time is short lately, but I tried to cover everything.

T-shirts: This subject has become bit of a sore spot for me. The t-shirts project is still being pursued, although at a snails pace (the slow progress being the sore spot). I am mostly to blame for the delays, simply because I don’t have the time to really hammer out the details and make it happen. I also am waiting for other people here and there to get back to me with possible solutions to minor problems. Feel free to complain about the lack of t-shirts from time to time. It will remind me to keep after people and get this done! Basically my lack of free time is the major holdup.

Future of LUVTruck.com: Currently the future of this site is fairly solid. Although I’m still bearing the majority of the financial burden, I’m working now and having no problem paying the hosting fees each month. Occasionally a donation or two comes in also, which is always GREATLY appreciated.

Updated message board, subscriptions, etc.: The release date of the new message board from phpbb has been pushed out several times. The new board will most likely bring a new subscription based options for our members that will generate funding for the site and offer useful features to our members in return. Unfortunately, no release date is available so we are left to wait patiently (or impatiently) until it’s done.

New additions to the family: Through a few trades and deals I’ve acquired two vehicles of interest.

First, an Izusu Pup Diesel. A cool little truck for sure. Excellent mileage, decent looking, and very reliable so far. My dad has pretty much taken ownership of it, which is fine. He has always liked diesel pick-ups so worked out a pretty good deal for him to grab this one. I will try and post pictures soon.

Secondly, a 4x4 Chevy LUV. This is a parts truck since it’s not running. After I grab what I want from it, I will most likely sell the truck or parts of the truck. I don’t have it here at my house yet, so I can’t be too sure about what’s there and what isn’t yet. I don’t even know what year it is.

Personal Info: About 4 months ago I moved from Upland, CA to Ontario, CA as most of you know. I’m actually staying with my dad and my grandmother and my grandmother’s house. I don’t have much space here and I have no say-so in the house, but I’m staying here rent-free so I can’t complain. I’m planning to save up a nice nest egg and get my own place within a couple months. The tons of overtime I’ve been working is helping in this area. I guess that’s one bright side to the situation.

Feast or famine should be the theme for this year. I’ve gone from a part-time job, to an all-time job. Not full-time, all-time. I work for a Beverage company called Cott Beverages in San Bernardino. We make soda for many supermarkets that they sell as their generic brand soda. We make all of the generic soda for StaterBros, Albertsons, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Safeway. We also have our own label “Stars and Stripes” which you may see here and there in stores. Yes, all of that stuff is made at the same place. I can also personally attest that our quality control is every bit as good as Coke or Pepsi and most of our stuff is just as tasty. :)

We make lots soda. In the neighborhood of 80,000 to 150,000 cases of bottles and cans roll out of our plant alone, each day, depending upon the time of year. From what I hear, those numbers are about 1/3 of what Coke and Pepsi produce at a plant, but it’s still impressive I think. We have two can lines. One runs about 1000 cans per minute, the other at about 1250. Yes, 1250 per minute! Our bottle line varies depending upon the size of the bottle. But for a 2-liter bottle, we usually run about 480 bottles per minute. The equipment at this place runs at blurring speeds!

If you’re in the So Cal area, pick up a bottle or can of something I mentioned above and look for “LK” somewhere in the date code. That’s the code for our plant. If it has an LK, we made it there in San Bernardino. Our plant makes the soda for all of Southern California. We have many other plants across the US, Canada, and the UK as well.

Although it’s a neat place to work, I’m not too happy with the hours and schedule they force upon us. Being that I’m fairly new, I get all the hours and shifts that no one else wants. For this reason, I rarely see family or friends any more. I’ve also recently started seeing a girl that I REALLY like, which makes the work schedule even more unbearable. The “no life” issue becomes even more of a loss when you have someone you REALLY like to spend time with.

Lately they have been working us insane hours. Just to give you an idea, from Dec8 to Dec23, I will have gotten 1 day off total. The HR department has a strict no tolerance policy so I pretty much have to work when asked or risk getting fired. I’m looking for something else but haven’t found much yet. Essentially I’m stuck there unless I decide that no job is better than no life.

That’s about all I can think of for now.
