Well it looks like someone replaced the alternator at some point with a Motorcraft unit, and the wiring does look like it's been messed with a little too.
Here's what I could snap though, the alternator half was in the shadow and regulator half was in the light so it was kind of a bitch to get it all in one shot.
The voltage regulator is at the left, the wire loom that opens up is in the center, and the last one is where the wires connect to the alternator.
The red wire with the yellow connector sleeve you see on the regulator mount is the red wire with black tape you see connecting to the alternator.

Hope this helps, the schematic is what you want to go with though, it's really not that hard to read and everything is labelled as per factory specs.
