79' LUV with a problem. So when I bought the truck it had a hard time starting but once it started it ran like a beast. So I decided to replace the Distributor cap and rotor, the wires, plugs, and ignition coil. The truck won't even start at all now and yes I am 100 percent sure I installed everything correctly. I did not touch the distributor itself but when I pull the cap off and put the engine at TDC the rotor nose is pointing towards cylinder 4 (away from the block). I can't imagine this is correct. Does anyone have any advice?

oh yeah and completely off topic but the guy before me destroyed one of the valve cover nuts and before I end up getting it off, is there anywhere to get a new one or maybe a combo that works in place of it.

TDC is at #1 and also #4. Rotate one more revolution to get there. Points gap set correctly? This can stop you dead.

Is it possible the cap is 180 backwards?

When all the crank, cam & oil pump alignment marks are where they should be the engine is at #4 TDC & the rotor should point to the #4 post on the distributor- sounds to me like yours is correct. Isuzu 4cly engines all time at #4 TDC.

So I did all of the stated maintenance above just as a huge tune up all at once. So right after I posted my question I went back downstairs and I just stared at the cap. The reason I say it was pointing at #4 is the cap was labeled with 1-4. So, as I'm staring I decided that I am not doing anything wrong and I need to stop second guessing myself. I completely disregarded what the cap said (since it only goes on one way) got #1 TDC, looked at 3 and the intake valves were wide open so I know for a fact this engine is TDC this time. I loosened the distributor and placed the cap. Disregarding the labels on the cap stillI placed the plugs in junction with the rotor nose. I then centered the nose over under #1 and tightened it all up. Been driving ever since. I'm not 100% why this cap isn't double slotted because if it just went on 180 out then it would be perfect. Anyways thank you for the advice guys and hopefully my experience here can help everyone else out. I wish I has the old one still to compare, but I threw it away a long time ago.
