Also search pertronix.

Also look in the information section on the main page under 'electronic distributor swap.'

The HEI conversion is more than twice the cost of the Pertronix solution, and obviously it's a more significant re-wiring exercise. I think the HEI mod requires a whole new distributor assy. I think the HEI route is a bit overkill for the stock engine. Does anyone running it feel otherwise? Why?

i am running an 95 isuzu pup electronic distributor from the 1.9L and i love it, it gets rid of the issue with burning and adjustring the points and as far as i understand it provides a more consistant and powerful spark, i wind my motor to 6k and dont have any issues with misfiring.
all it takes is the pup distributor, i bought mine from rockauto right now their cheapest is 150 but i paid around $70 for mine so keep an eye on that they get new stuff often. also check ebay for one. you just run one wire to + and one to - on the coil and set the timing same way as the stock one and your done..

I ran the setup from an 86 I-Mark for a while and it did make a noticable difference in my truck's perfomrance. It could rev as far as you had the courage to take it without the misfiring or point float. It was simpler for tune-ups and improved mileage a bit too. I got my entire setup from a wrecking yard for the $25 standard charge for a distributor. Was a danged fine upgrade for the price.

im running one from an 85 not 95 cant believe i missed that typo...
probably wont see a huge difference in power output on a stock motor but if you were running a really hopped up engine that needed a good powerful spark it would be a good thing to look into.. i swapped mine because i was having issues with my points not staying where they should have and i burned out a set way too fast and got tired of messing with it
