Does anyone know of a different ignitor I can use with my stock distributor for a 1982 luv. The nippondenso is dead it is # 8942172440 Also has the #101311-1910. The ones I've found online are between 155 and 250 ouch. There has to be a cheaper way. I heard about a way to us a gm ignitor but can't find any info on this. Help

I have a 1982 ingition in my 79 luv and the ignior has quit working. Does anyone know of another ingitor that is cheaper that will replace the stock nippondenso iginiter. The one I have is a 894217440 and also has the # 101311-1910 12v. I was told there is a way to use a gm iginiter but can't find any info. The toyota igniters are also very similair but I was told they will not work.

I had the same problem a few years ago and there wasn't anything cheap available for me either, but I eventually upgraded and picked up a crane cams xr700 ignition box for about 80 bucks and threw that in there and it ran great replaces the pickup in the dizzy too. You can step it up even more w the xr1000 but the 700 is powerfull enough. Those ignotors are a pain in the ass, I was told that you could use one out of a toyota pickup or celica w the 4 cyl but I tried it but I had no luck. They have a different connector, tried to splice it but I'm no wiring genius managed to get the new box in though pretty simple, hope my info is usefull, good luck
