Well I bought a 1981 Luv because I needed an engine in mine that burnt a valve. Got the 81 truck for $350. Compression 130 on 2 cyls and 140 on 2. Got the 81 on Friday, started the swap Saturday and drove my 79 around with newer engine today!

My 79 had a weber so there is some carb wiring to figure out. Specifically a 4 pin connector that I have nothing to connect to. Anyone know what this is? I have the Series 9 wiring diagram and can chase it down but if someone cares to let me know I would appreciate it.

The only wire from the 4 pin connector that I had to use was for the automatic choke on the weber. On my '78 it was the blue wire I believe.

The carbs will swap ..right? I think that would be easier and faster than wiring on the newer carb!

I think you lost me. Either carb will work, but with the '81 you'd have to reference the manual to see if the wiring is the same.

Use the carb originally for the vehicle.
