Has any one ever heard of anyone putting a LUV on a 3/4 Frame? I have a 82 3/4 ton Chevy and my 75 luv. Let me know what you think.

Why? For sure the frame is way too long...

Yeah i was thinking about that. So what i came up with is either the plasma cutter and welder or having a fuel cell built to go between the cab and bed. To answer the question why. 1. I have never seen or heard of anyone doing it. And 2 why not? I think it would be fun to have a LUV 2500 HD

The answer to 2, why not? Is, they don't make LUVs anymore, and this site is littered with parts trucks that were once projects like this...

I see your point. But If no one has done one before then it would be a one of a kind LUV. If I dont like it I can alway put it back on its frame.

Mines on a 86 ford ranger frame. I just made a flatbed for it. anything can be done! But ive been workin on mine for the last 2 years, but ive started from ground one with mine, stripped every pannel. Way more work than i thought it would be, but ive learned new things everyday. And i love the project.

With a 3/4 that frame will be long! and your axles will stick out way to far. Even in Northern Idaho a cop would not let you go. You can shortend the frame, which is done. But you have to shortend it A LOT!!! I think the way to go is just straight axle it. (ether jeep or toy) or narrow a D44. Just my .02 cents anyway.

That'd be going backwards. The luv frame is stronger than the 3/4 ton chevy frame. If you can do the fab work needed to put the luv onto a different frame then you should be able to do the fab work needed to put 3/4 ton axles underneath the stock luv frame.

Ok thanks for the info yall. The reason I wasnt going to use the Luv frame is I am building it up for another LUV project that has a better body. Basically I am going to use the frame for a 72 show truck to take to the good guys car show here in Des Moines and I was going to usee the 3/4 ton ton trailer it to the show.

much less blasphemy then before...
so i take it you have one luv with a good body and frame and one with an iffy frame and worse body? (well combine parts from the 2 to make one good one bad)
would be pretty cool to trailer your luv with another luv... that would make for an interesting show entry if you left the 72 on the trailer behind its matching tow rig 8)

I don't know the laws in all states, however here in calif you will want to have the titles for both cab and frame. Or your project could end up in a tow yard and you'll have a tough, almost impossible job to get it out. You could also end up in jail for GTA. This is also true about switching plates on different trucks. If checked and the numbers don't match, it will be impounded and you go to jail. A good lawyer ($$$$$$$$) will most likely get you out of the GTA.
Better safe than loosing money, a truck and a lot of time.
