Alright its snowy and icey here so i have been driving whith the front hubs locked on my truck. Lately i have notaced that there is a bit of a growl that comes from the driver side front axle. So im convinced that its the bearing at the end of the axle tube on the driver side. Anyone ever have to change this out?

Axle bearings are not hard to change on these 4x4 trucks. I changed all mine on my 80 when i rebuilt it. If you have ever changed bearings in anything before, than it's basicly all the same. Luv front 4x4 hubs are simple to remove and simple to reasemble. Just remember what side you took the spring out of. When i got my 80 i had a simular problem ...took them apart and found out that someone replaced the bearings and put the spring back in , :x in the wrong place. Removed springs and put them in the right place and it works great. Pack your bearings and , races in the right place...ya should be good to go. :)

i rebuilt mine from hub to hub.its not to bad if you can turn a wrench and dont mind getting dirty.just look real close at the spring on the back of the lockin/out its tricky to get it back right if you remove it.best luck i had on parts was at napa.
