i am curious what all happens when i crank all the way down the torsion bars? what will it do to tire wear? or can they be totally lowered and not have to get a alignment done? Thanks all

It will ride like a tank and you will be going through tires monthly. Any time you modify the ride height, you should have it realigned.

What tilted is saying, is if you crank the torsion bars down, you will need to go get it aligned as soon as possible. When you drop one down the camber changes and will cause one side of the tire to wear rapidly, it may also affect caster and toe, but probably not enough to matter.

If you can't afford even an alignment, you're probably not gonna like the other options.

Check your tyre pressures.
Park it on flat level ground.
Take measurements from ground to chassis and FFS write them down.

Go absolutely freakin nuts. Dump that sucker in the weeds. Float that boat.

If ya dont like it you can wind it back up. Well thats provided your adjusters are not seized up, if they are you wont have got it down.

Lash out on some lowering blocks for the back.

Whats a wheel alignment. $30 when i got one a month back. If you cant afford that you shouldnt own a car you should walk.

rodeorob, that was a pretty nasty thing to say!! Some of us on here are out picking up pop bottles and cans to buy our outrageous priced gas!! This has always been a very friendly site, lets keep it that way?
Just my opinion of course,

What??

If you cant afford to have a safe car you should not have a car at all. How is that nasty??
Its constructive. Ride a bike, walk, its good excercise. The money you do throw at the hunk of junk unsafe car in fuel and oil etc you will save so you will have more money for life in general and you will loose the liablity of the unforseen mechanical malfunction that comes with owning an old car.

Do you want some bucket of unsafe junk barreling down the same road that you use, the same road that your wife and children are in the vicinty of??

Its not nasty at all.

If you do not have the $30 to wheel align a car after lowering it, dont lower it.

I gave penty of good advice as well.
Its torsion bar, lowering is a reversable thing.

Its douche you imbecile. If your gunna call someone names, know how to spell it.

I gave you good advice about it, like real helpful stuff in plain english all put together, step by step, in one single post so simple that even a retard could understand it and not fuck it up.
No thank you, no nothing, all you gents want to comment on is the last line of saftey advice.

You irresponsible twats want to go learn some manners and common sense before you come on the internet and play with the adults.

If you don't wanna spend money on an alignment, I hope you want to spend money on tires every 1000 miles or so.

yea sorry to agree with the one your seeing as the agressor here but if you arent willing to spend the money to do it the correct way the first time its going to cost you 3x as much later on, an alignment is essential if you change ride height.

and come on dont be calling names thats just childish. he is just trying to give you some very accurate advice whats the problem with that? he isnt saying go hang yourself for wanting to lower it, he just said the facts about what you asked.

if you want to do it really cheap just crank the t bars down, grab a set of used s10 lowering blocks off ebay, craigslist, whoever has one cheap, get an alignment done and then worry about every other thing to mess with after that. the "cooler" stuff like rims and lo-pros and paint jobs come after the safe to drive on the road stuff thats just how it is.
