I recently blew my head gasket, and am considering installing a new engine vs fixing the gasket. Anyone know of a reliable place to buy a rebuilt/reman?

1. What engine?
2. Where are you?

Generally, a blown head gasket is not a reason to rebuild an engine. Sometimes the cylinder walls get scored, in which case, it would need to be rebuilt. Maybe other reasons, but generally it's just a matter of resurfacing the head and replacing the gasket. That's nowhere near the cost of an overhaul.

is yours beyond saving? if so why? i would think you could have it decked for straightness if slightly warped and throw it right back on unless its badly cracked.

i had my head done. decked, valve grind, cleaned and all for $250-

You can find another head on this site pretty easily, just ask for one, or post an ad on the classified section. Pretty easy to fix a blown gasket, Joe Isuzu gave you some good advice.
Here is another, be sure to use NEW head bolts when you install it, old headbolts have a tendency to stretch when reused and the gasket go again. Small expense for a good job that will last.

The only way the head would be no good would be if it has gone soft. The only way you would know that would be if you had it off and sent it to the machine shop for them to give it some love. As a matter of course they will do a hardness test on the head before they machine it.
If its gone soft you can get it re-tempered.

Theres not much between bores 1&2 and 3&4 on a G200Z same with the G180Z.
Has it gone blowing between the cylinders or oil-water job???

If its got corrosion around the water passages that can be welded up.

If the motor is not using great gobs of oil id suggest just fixing it.

I partly agree with the advice on the head bolts, but given that the Isuzu design does not use the degree method to tighten the bolts they are not single use. As long as they have not been over tightened they should still be serviceable. But new ones would not hurt and getting a price would not be hard.
