You have a problem problem with the alternator or voltage regulator. When both are working the white/red wire from the VR has 14 volts on it. It runs to the charge light and the coil of the relay that feeds the fuel pump.

Yes you lost alternator output. Check the obvious first like a broken fan belt?

Labman and egg have both given you good information, here is a little more explanation, like labman said the voltage regulator has two relays inside it, one of these controls the fuel pump relay which is mounted under a tin shield beside the battery. Also the start circuit activates this same relay so you get fuel during this time, but when the start circuit is off the charging circuit must take over so the fuel pump will run. This is why the engine will start but not continue to run. A lot of us Luv owners rewire the fuel pump wire to a 12V switched scource to prevent this from stranding us, also those of us who have swapped engines have had to change the wiring. Since alternator failure is much more likely than voltage regulator I would check this out first.
Good luck,
