Why go with the smallest fan? I installed a 16" SPAL. I fit perfectly snug on the factory radiator. Order the mount kit that mounts the fan to the radiator support with angle brackets. Also get the gasket that goes between the fan and radiator. I spent the bucks and went with the PWM fan control too. You don't really need that part. My truck has factory air and I never have a heating problem.

the money issue is the reason for going for the smallest fan, i have no problem with mounting brackets because i work at a fabrication shop, if a smaller fan will suficiently cool it i would much rather spend less money.

You are better of with the bigger fan...more cfm means better cooling...these little buggers are known for overheating and blowing head gaskets.

Hey Rick Smith do you have links to where you got the fan and mounting brackets?

The most reasonable electric fans I have found is from a company called KMJ. Look on e bay and you can get their direct phone number and address. In their catalog is listed two fans, a 14" and a 16" both chrome and/or black, each is $39.00!! A lot cheaper than any where else I have found. Both fans will work either as a pusher or puller depending on how you mount it.

I bought mine from SPAL ( http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.aspx ) goto fans then low profile (VA18-AP10/C-41A FAN (16)"). Also go under fan accessories for the fan gasket VA18 FAN SHROUD GASKET. They may not be the most inexpensive out there but I wanted dependability. With cooling your ride CHEAP is not the best way to go. I learned a long time ago that you get what you pay for. One thing that will KILL your LUV is overheating. Good luck and keep it cool.

ive flushed it,replaced the thermostat 4 times, new water pump, my stock carb was running on one barrel so i replaced it with a weber, tuned it perfectly, timing is perfect, anything cooling wise has been replaced, im $2100 into the engine on a $200 truck, it wont overheat idling just with a load on it...... im stumped.

Could have air in the system...,
Could be running lean....,
Could be too much retard on the timing...,
Could be lack of pressure in system...,
