ok the neighbor mechanic just left. (the one that had my carb and things seemed screwed up on it when we got it back) he now says the thick hard plastic piece (the one that is sandwiched between gaskets) from the carb to the intake has a vacuum leak. i have tried to find one to replace mine but am having no luck trying "chevy luv throttle body spacer" or hitachi carb base spacer and a few other combination's i can come up with. so i hate to ask it again but whats the part called and where can i get one? part number? we have brand new thick gaskets from the rebuild kit and have replaced the top and bottom but i need the thick hard plastic piece thats rectangle with two holes in it. ( i need to have it to have the 1980 chevy luv connected to the dcp340 carb. anyone have one around thats not warped or damaged?

as far as i can tell its a THROTTLE BODY SPACER/insulator i just cant find one :(

it looked fine to us newbies persay but he sprayed the carb cleaner for a long tome there and said it was leaking., how do we fix it? it didnt look warped but i guess we can check on a flat service.

he also is smooth talking us to taking the carb off and letting him "fix" it but i am so hesitant as hes been a mechanic all his life but my carb has springs trashed that werent and cotter pins missing and who knows what else. man this guy could sell a ketchup Popsicle to a lady in white gloves and now he wants my carb again and i am afraid hes shopping off of it :(

Sounds like you need a second opinion from another mechanic.
