Can anyone tell me what Transmission was used in the Chevy LUV? If you can do me one better, could you post a link or any information on the transmission. Im trying to figure out the dimensions of the stock LUV's tranny.

Is your Luv a 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive?

If it's a 2 wheel, you could get a 5 speed out of a Isuzu Pup. Youd have to have your driveline shortned, but you have an extra gear, and better gas mileage.

2wd 4sp & 5sp MSG trannies are the same length, the 4sp has an extended tail housing that contains 5th gear on the 5sp. Tranny mounts are in the same place, not sure about the shifter location. The tailshaft slip yoke on the 5sp probably has more splines and a larger diameter, for that reason the 4sp drive shaft may not be a bolt-in.
4wd are all different, you have to mod both driveshafts & shifter holes & the tranny mount but the 5sp can still be swapped in.

The '81-'85 2wd 5-speed tailshaft is the same as the one on the 4-speed. The stronger '86-later transmissions had a larger tailshaft with more splines.

What year of Isuzu Pup 5spd tranny will fit in a 76?
