Which rear ends will be interchangeable with my 1975 chevy luv? I've got a 1980 rear end sitting at the junk yard and they told me the 1979-80's weren't interchangeable with a 75. I also heard the 79's on up had the 3.73 gears too so any thoughts?

Don't know why they told you that. The 80 rear end is no different than any other rear from any other luv except for the ratio. Your 75 probably has 4.56s and the 80 probably has 4.10s.

As far as the ratios per year, it depends on the transmission and whether or not it was a 4x4.

Check this page for year by year changes. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2083

I don't know on the specific years but as far as I can remember the Auto LUVs had 4.10s the 4x4s has 4.10s but the manual 2wd had 3.73s that's for the has LUVs I don't remember exactly what the Diesels had.

Five speed diesels had 3.73's and the MPG 4speeds had 3.42s but the year models I'm talking about are 81-87 and the rear is alittle wider.

The 1975 two wheel drive rear end was 4.56.
I swapped mine out with a narrowed 12 bolt chevy with Summer Bros. axles. 3.08 gears
