I put a 76 body on a 80 4x4 chassis. The 76 has the hydraulic clutch pedal assembly and the 80 transmission has the mechanical setup. Has anybody ever done this before. I need to alter the pedal from pushing in the master cylinder to pulling the cable. does anyone know if the clutch pedal from a mechanical clutch cab will bolt up to the cab I have. Any ideas will be appreciated. thanks

Why not keep the hydraulic pedal assembly and add a slave cylinder to the clutch? I did this for a diesel swap.

See this thread.

Good luck,
Eric Q.

I have a bell housing from a hydraulic clutch transmission that should convert your "new" transmission to hydraulic. Someone else expressed interest, and I think I owe him some photos...but if he doesn't want it, it's available.

I've now posted the photos.

Also, keep in mind that newer trucks (80ish?) had a cable clutch.

He has not replied to my email, so this is still available.

I have had a lot of trouble with the hydrualic clutch on my 77. I have even though about converting it to mechanical. I would look around at the newer mechanical parts and see what you can do.

Well I finally decided what to do with the clutch. I installed the pull type slave cylinder and the clutch cable on a bracket and mounted it on the driver side wheel well. Now the slave cylinder pulls the cable so I got to keep the stock pedal and master cylinder and it actually seems to work really well.

Well done it's that kind of thinking that puts you a head of the class. Keep up the good work.
