I have a whining noise in my cab that fluctuates when my blinker is on or I turn on my heater. Any ideas other than the alternator?

That's so weird....

I used to too.

...But after I stopped taking my wife with me in my truck, it immediately went away.

I used to have an old school equalizer/ amp. on my stereo ( non LUV) that picked up a whine from the alt. and would come out my speakers. I could really hear it when the volume was all the way down. The noise would go up and down with the eng. rpm.

Could it maybe be something like this?

To Rondog's point there are two condensors on the ignition that will cause the whining also bad spark plug wires will too..Bad amplifier ground will do it too!

Just noticed I forgot the H in the subject.

I lined the floor behind the seat and inside of my doors with Peel & Seal (cheap alternative to dynamat) and installed carpet to deaden cab noises. It worked great! I still can hear that damn noise though.

I unplugged my speakers and tested it out and no change. It sounds like it is coming from under the cab in the back I don't think its the fuel pump.

Hopefully my wife isn't wedged under there.

Take your girlfriend for a ride.

If your wife's stuck in there somewhere...you'll find out soon enough.

But then...the new source of the whining will be you.

So I guess I'm not helping much.

Fuel pump failing generally makes a faint rapid "thump" as it cyles.
There is no "off" on the vent fan, it runs on lowest speed any time the ignition is on. See if you can either pull the fuse or disconnect the power wire to eliminate that as the problem.
Listen for the noise with the window down or better yet with the door open, that will better tell you if the source is outside the cab.

Could be a tire or the rear end has issues.I had a 74 Buick Century that the rear end had too much play in the assembly and was causing the howling.
