I have been using Castrol GTX 10w30 with STP 4 cylinder oil treatment(the red bottle) for the ZDDP content and now I find out it is no longer available from the supplier I have been getting it from. I have researched numerous oils and I found that Valvoline VR-1 and Brad Penn are the ones with the most ZDDP in them. I have tried to locate the Valvoline VR-1 in 10w30 and I have found locally that Oreilly Autoparts can get me 2 quarts and thats all they have in their DC and the cost is $5.00 per qt. The Brad Penn on the other hand is available at the Action Autoparts on the corner for about $6.00 per qt and is about 6 blocks from my house. My question is: Does anyone have any other suggestions/recommendations for a motor oil with enough ZDDP in it?

Napa carries Valvoline racing oil. It should say "not for sale for street use". Basically dzzp was cloging up cat converters so oil companies removed it. Just look for racing oils.

diesel oil has not been restricted like the gas oils have for the ZDDP.

unless your in the arctic 15W-40 diesel oil will be fine in a 1.9L

Diesels now have cats and particulate filters, I think Dello 400 and the others have reducrd or removed it. The fedrel law states if your cat or trap is clogged due to the additive they must pay for it, thats why it is not around anymore.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll try napa in the morning and see if they can get more than two bottles. I checked with Carquest and they were a no go. I have heard that the Brad Penn is the way to go. The Porsche club here swears by it as does the Corvette club. Any opinions on the Brad Penn??
