Ok.I had not driven my 75 in about a month..I was waiting on an alternator.Put it in yesterday and drove around and to work.Drove it around today and coolant temp dropped dramatically.Think when I put in alternator I forgot to secure heater hoses and burnt pin hole in the line..so low on coolant. But I could smell oil.Looked at carb and air cleaner and have a lot of oil on carb.No coolant in oil.
Any ideas? Was horridly cold and haven't changed oil in a while..maybe oil too thing going past rings?

have you noticed a lot of oil ON the carb? as in on the outside of one side?

there is a small vacuum line that attaches to the air cleaner coming from the passenger side of the valve cover. if that line is disconnected, there will be lots of oil. i had the same issue...

It is on the inside of the air cleaner and all over the carb.It didn't backfire or anything like you usually hear when you blow a head gasket. Will go outside tomorrow and see if that line is disconnected.
