I just got a 1980 Luv 4x4, that would idle, but when you give it gas the fuel level in the bowl drops and would take forever to build up again. After trying another fuel pump and replacing the filter there was no improvement. I blew air through the hose that is between the filter and the tank and that cleared the problem. The OEM manual does not show what is inside the tank and I wonder if I blew off a screen or a sock. One of you guys must know and I would appreciate it if you could share that with me. Thanks, John

there isn't much more than a small pickup screen or "pre-filter" that sits at the end of the pickup tube. if it was restricting flow, it may have been due to rust or varnish. lift the bed and pull the hanger out and take a look. mine fell apart when i cleaned the sending unit and i didnt bother to put it back in since my tank was clear of any rust. if you really want to, you can replace it...

Thanks Figuarus for the info. There is no rust in the tank so I won't worry about it. The tank did have 10 gallons of really bad turpentine smelling gas in it.
