3 questions
My 80 luv clutch pedal is stiff. Has anyone had any experience solving that issue? Is there something I can lube?
This is not related to the frequent issue of the clutch pedal cracking and breaking off. My pedal has been strengthened and the stiffness issue is coming up years later. I think I should have applied a little lube when the clutch was replaced. But what can I do short of opening it back up?

I know this sounds strange but do any of you think that original single headlight grills are shrinking. Up and down, not across. On one of my LUVs I had to lift the grill and install spacers at the bottom, and even so the space at the top is bigger than it should be.

Lastly, has anyone come up with a good substitute for the nylon or plastic clips that hold the headlight trim on. Most of mine are long gone, even after scrounging from parts trucks. It seems that the hole in the sheet metal is so large that a screw is not a good answer.

If there are good answers, this is the place.
Thanks

Pull the clutch cable and stand it on end pull off the boots (i tossed mine in the garbage) then work the cable up and down and watch the debris fall out . This may take a while but i have done it to mine twice and it has been working good for over a year now.

You could use some motorcycle cable lube but only after you get it fairly clean

When you place spacers under the grill, check the hood clearance when opened. There is a larger gap at the top for it to open. Also, after you remove the clutch cable, check the pedal for free movement.

I have been trying to find some bushings to replace the plastic one on the pivot and am getting close as i am looking at starter bushing at a good friends starter shop.

If i find what i want this site will be the first to get the news.

I replaced the cable with one from a parts truck. What a difference! I didn't realize how bad it had gotten.
It must take about 1/4 as much push as it used to. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I thought the problem was inside the clutch housing. Does anyone have a good replacement to the plastic clips that hold the headlight trim on?
And does anyone else think that the space at the top of their grill has grown as the years have gone by?

i also have had the stiff clutch issue to the point of my mount breaking off. got the mount fixed once, it lasted 24 hours. got it fixed again, and bought a new clutch cable for safe measure, now it moves like cutting thru butter with a hot knife.

Image here's the welding i had a Muffler shop do for me for $20.

Clips, No they are as hard to find if not harder than good dashes and kind of weird on the grille but yes, :ebiggrin I do not remember when I got my truck the gap being that big on the top.

this was the most recent active topic about pedals, that's why i replied. rather than just making a new post. i've only had my luv a few weeks, so i have yet to notice the growing gap over the grille.
