I just got my package of used parts for some things that I have been wanting to fix (I love Ebay), anyway I replaced the starter on my 1985 S-10 2x4 2.2L factory Diesel and when I went to start it, The starter continued to crank, even after the engine fired.
(The original starter did the same thing, from time to time, I use to have to disconnect the negative battery cable to get it to stop. I toasted that starter after I decided I was to tired to mess with it and drove the truck)
It cranks even after I turn the key off. Does anyone have any Ideas on how to fix this? Do I have the starter on a bind, does the diesel truck have a relay that went bad, Do I have a bent flexplate? Has any one had this problem?
I hate to think that I got ripped off on an used starter, seems kinda funny that two starters would do the same thing which leads me to believe that it is not a starter problem but something else.
The starter will disengage after I yank the battery cable and reattach it. Do you think I could just wire in a toggle? I would rather find the problem instead of hillbilling it.
