As I continue to work on the non-running '76 I decided to replace the fuel filter. Well the hoses were so old and brittle that they broke as I tried to replace the filter. Now I'm at a stand still until I can replace the hoses. Has anyone replaced these? Upgraded? I'm just looking for ideas. Thanks guys.

No big deal. Pick up some 5/16'' fuel line at any hardware or auto supply. It is tight quarters fitting it on the gas tand outlet, but fairly easy otherwise.

Thanks Labman, I'll look in that direction. Jeramy I think I'm gonna have to replace the fuel pump too. It's in rough shape. The old fuel filter was full of debris, and the gas was brown and dirty when it drained out.

thats why i had to replace mine.it had 2 inline filters before the pump. the one closest to the tank was so clogged that i couldn't even blow threw it. i took it out and hooked everything back up but the pump was toast so there went 50 bucks.changed pump and filter.

Thanks Jeremy. I'm concerned that once I go to all the trouble of re-piping the broken fuel hoses and replacing the pump the gas tank is going to be so full of crud I'll be stuck again.

my previous post is wrong. don't use that pump the fuel pressure is to high.

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detai ... rd=be8016s

# Universal
# Type: Solenoid
# Volts: 12
# Pressure: 2.5-4.5 PSI
# Flow (GPH): 30
# Inlet/Outlet Size: 5/16" Hose

51.99

i either have to change my pump again or put a fuel pressure regulator on mine now cause the pump is pushing past what the float needle can stop

Thank you for the update Jeramy. I think I've narrowed down the problem to the fuel pump giving up the ghost. But I've decided to rebuild the fuel system from front to back anyway. So a new fuel pump is in order. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23357
