So hello all. I just bought a sexy little Chevy 79' LUV and I love it. It has a handful of various issues but the most annoying to me is that the running lights don't turn on when I pull the light knob all the way. All my other lights work but the back ones and the front side lights don't seem to light up. I checked fuses they seem ok. You guys know what the simplest explanation might be? The lights aren't burned out also.

When I bought my truck the passenger side turn signal didnt work. Bulb was fine fuses were fine. It had a cracked lens and the bulb socket was rusty as a first measure I sprayed WD-40 in the socket put the bulb back in and out a few times and it has worked since.

Yes, the LUV's have no end of bad connections including in the fuse box itself. Since you are getting power to the other lights, likely the problem is between the light switch and lights. All I can say is check the connections and look for broken wires.

a multimeter and test light are you best friend in a case like this.

make sure you have power and study the factory wiring diagram.

Like Fig said, grab a multimeter and dedicate an hour or so to check all of the connections. Have a buddy help you out. I just got all four of my side marker lights running after putting it off for forever. Before a couple of weeks ago only my driver rear and passenger front would work. One was a rusty socket and the other was a busted/brittle wire and a bad ground from the housing to the body.
