Hi!

Again sorry at start for my very poor english :) Im Tom from Poland / East Europe. Want to introduce my 1974 LUV. Have bay this car on german ebay as Chevrolet S-10. The seller dont know that this is another kind of Chevy - solong i have also dont know. At the car coms on cartrack i have check and search on the internet for this car - with trouble because with the description S-10 1974 is nothing to find - at least, at the site "S-10 Story" i have been see the picture with my car called under as Chevrolet LUV. After that it was so easy to find the right information about my car and this site :)

Some Pictures of my LUV

I dont know the conditions of engine because the electric is completly poor. It must be fixt. Solong engine looks good. On the other site this car looks to be complete and with "good" conditions.

Pleae tell me more about my car ... i know only that - on papers this is 1974 car. Maybe You can tell me more with this pictures. Especially i want to know the manufacture of the wheels and steering wheel and all another info You know!

90% i want to make a SWAP to V6 maybe V8 engine - can you tell me the easiest and "chipiest" way to to that - its should be my very first project!

THX

Welcome...

I would say to start by reading the information posts in the stock trucks section, that has a lot of information. From looking at your truck, it seems to be 1976 or later judging by the interior, engine, and body style.

You will be encouraged to use the search button, believe me it will pay off as this site has been active for many years and there are some truly knowledgeable people on here.

Welcome. I would say this looks like it is probably a 1978 - 1980 based on the single head light setup, number of tie downs on the bed and the gauge cluster. Of course it certainly could be older and someone just swapped out the gauge cluster and head lights to the newer style, but I am betting this is '78 - '80. Best of luck with the truck.

yes 78/80 as like Mokadeth said and it is a cable clutch not hydraulic. my bet is a 79 as the side markers are not rubber but chrome rings

i dont know what you have access to over there but the General Motors/Chevy 4.3litre v6, 5.0litre 305 v8, and the 5.7litre 350 v8 are the most common and as far as i know the easiest to swap if you want more power.

powerbyace.com is where my engine and transmission adapters came from. makes the swap a LOT easier. there are several options for a transmission. just from my readings id say the 700r4 and turbo 350 are the most common.

as far as your rearend goes .. the stock one will hold up under normal driving. if you plan for a lot of power or aggressive driving .. i would upgrade to something better. i myself got a gm 10bolt with 3.73 gears. i wont be racing or anything, i just wanted a more powerful engine in my truck.

what else is needed? nothing really if you are driving the truck lightly. just NEW brakes and suspension parts if yours are old and worn out. if you are looking to put down a lot of power .. im not as informed with the brakes and suspension .. so someone else will post im sure

i hope this helps, and if anything is false or slightly off .. please someone correct me. thats just what i have learned so far

Dimensionally, all Gen 1 small block chevrolet's are the same, so engine size is up to you. Also, are you going to run an automatic or a standard transmission? Is it going to be a race specific vehicle or a daily driver? I recommend a late 1980's 700r4 automatic tranny with a couple of upgrades, if the power level is not going to be too drastic...

Its should be a daily driver but with lots of power ... generally we want to build our company demo car on this LUV as base (car audio & interior & customs etc.)

if i good understand - its can be a 5.0 or 5.7 V8? there dimensions are the same???

i want to buy a GM 350V8 with TH350 AT - is that good choice?

Yes, the 305 and 350 are dimentionally the same externally. -f going for power, the 350 will make more.the turbo 350 is fine,

Welcome. Great to see LUV's from around the world. From what I can see, you have a nice one. As the others have said, you can probably find all of the information you need on this site.
