New accelerator pump and new bowl gasket on the stock Hitachi. Now it is leaking out of the vent tube of the passenger side of the carb, The float is not sticking.Any ideas?
Kinda low on funds right now so no Weber.

I am running a higher pressure fuel pump.Could it be pushing the check ball at the accelerator pump of the seat?I cleaned the gas tank,so maybe all the rust is not restricting the fuel flow anymore so I either use a pressure regulator or get a new pump? Somebody throw me a bone here please? HEEEEEELLLP!

I think the banjo fitting that allows unused gas to return to the tank is fairly restrictive. You might rig something to allow more gas to bypass. I would suggest drilling the fitting out, but it is tough undrilling holes if it doesn't work.

Put a fuel guage on it. Stock carbs and Webers only need 3-4 lbs PSI. I put a 5-6 lbs PSI replacement fuel pump and had all sorts of trouble with a Weber carb. A regulator cost the same as the required pump, so I got another pump and used the higher PSI pump my bigger truck with a Holley which works with 6-7 lbs.

The more I think about it the more the pressure regulator is making sense.I can get a Mr. Gasket 9017 for around 30 dollars so I will try that first. If anyone else has any ideas I am open minded. Keep them coming guys!

Well it isn't the fuel pressure. Put on a pressure regulator this morning and it is still doing it.I am gonna try the old rubber mallet trick an see if that works.it is not vapor locked, I took the cap off the tank.Any other ideas?

Well I am waiting for a new needle and seat.I took the one out and it has a burr on the needle so it was hanging up.I couldn't get it to do it with the bowl cover off, butt I could get it to hang up with the needle and seat out of the carb. Now I just hope nothing else goes wrong!

The thing that sucks though is that it would only do it part of the time.If it was a Quadrajet it would not have hurt it. The way the needle and seat on the Hitachi is designed is good and bad.It regulates the fuel flow more but if the spring gets worn or the brass gets a bur yo are screwed. They should have used dissimilar metals so this doesn't happen. We will see if this works, but I will have a different carb in the next couple of days just in case.

Didn't work and I am irritated. The carb was supposedly rebuilt, but whoever rebuilt it didn't clean it up.I think they sprayed some carb cleaner in it and scammed the little old I bought the truck from.I will get a couple of cans of carb cleaner and chase out the carb after I get the different one later this week.
I tell you I have the crappiest luck sometimes!

Hey, is that my old carb that you speak of? It's cool to hear of a truck coming back to life from the extra parts someone else has just laying around.

I would love to see pictures of your truck.

Eric it is the carb I got from you. I have to fix some issues before I take any pictures of my little truck.Like a new drivers door and a real good cleaning! I am in the process of tearing the other carb apart to rebuild it. Way too many parts!
