Have you ever seen one of the campers that people used to put in the bed of these trucks?Even with the load springs they squatted really bad!

I have seen one of those campers. Unreal. This luv has overload springs. I put 3/4 of a cord of wood on it and burnt out both rear wheel bearings. I bought it used in 1985 and it has sure earned it's keep.
It is on engine #3. It is starting to have some problems with a front caliper. They were rebuilt about 4yrs ago. Good thing I have a parts 4x4.

My owners manual says 1200 something payload. I have hauled over a ton more than once, but took it very easy. Usually I try to limit it to half that. It doesn't pay to abuse something that isn't up to the job. On the other hand, my LUV has been fine for maybe 95% of what I have ever needed.

I am building a deck. I have no intention of trying to haul the 16' boards I will need.

That's a half load for my LUV, it's loaded cab high right now with firewood- but then it has 8 spring leaves.
