I am going to re-seal the front and rear shafts. Is there supposed to be play in the tailshaft when the yoke is not attached? It wiggles from side to side easily. When we drove the truck before taking it all apart, everything seemed fine with the transmission accept for a leak from the front seal.


Any help would be appreciated.

I believe the auto trans has a slip yoke foe the output of the trans. The slip yoke rides in a bushing in the tailshaft so without the yoke in place there will be play.
