This weekend I added lowering blocks to the rear of my LUV (woah that sounds interesting...) and then cranked down the torsion bars in the front (I plan on reindexing them this weekend).

I hadn't really seen the front suspension on the truck before but it's really worrisome. The passenger upper shock mount is completely destroyed (the shock is just hanging out not doing anything) and the driver side lower shock eyelet is destroyed as well.

I can fix the driver side with a new shock, but how do I fix the passenger side? Is it removable? Or is it part of the frame? If I remove it, what must come out with it? If it's part of the frame it's going to be a pain in the ass to fabricate the piece and weld it in on the truck...

Also, another suspension n00b question, the coil-over shock threads all talk about removing the torsion bars. From what I could see, aren't the torsion bars what pivot the lower control arms? Or am I just crazy and they come out without consequence?
Anyone thought of using these?

Thanks again!

The shock tower is welded in and the torsion bar is splined where it enters the a arm. It goes in about an inch. There is a bolt with a splined head that actually holds the a arm in place...

Ah ok. So I'll have to do the repair on the truck then?

Damn... Those 4 bolts on it made it look removable.

Thanks for clearing up the torsion bar stuff.
