my buddy just parted out his jeep cherokee and said he would give me his front axle off it. would you guys say the width of that axle would be the same as a wrangler axle? will it measure up to the front? and is there any threads on here that talk about coil conversions? because the axle is made for coils. any info would be great.

LUV back axle is only 54" wide WMS to WMS, Cherokee is probably 60", maybe wider.
Cherokee front is a Dana 35, so it's strong enough but it's driver side drop, different lug bolt pattern & who knows what gear ratio, would require new tranny & tranfer case. It would be a lot easier to cut off the coil mount hardware and convert to leafs. Can be done but will be difficult and expensive.
The absolute easiest SAS conversion for a LUV is a Toyota pickup, '84 or '85 preferred (stronger), it's the same width, probably has the correct 4.10 gears, only requires fabbing the spring perches & adapting the steering and front driveshaft.
