Hi guys....I haven't posted for a while but I have good news. After agonizing for several weeks over the JC Whitney catalog, I finally went for two strips of window channel for my 77 LUV. I finally installed them today[took about 4 hours for both doors] and I must say they fit PERFECTLY. I was afraid there would not be enough clearance on both sides of the glass for a good fit but it turned out as good as the factory. In fact, there is a small chrome bead on each edge of the U that makes it look great. Each strip is about 72 inches long and will do one window both sides. I didn't put the channel at the top of the door. The original there was in good shape. I suppose if there is no wx strip there in your vehicle then you'll have to order enough extra for that. I had to remove the door panel and the window riser. Next, I got the glass out through the opening and then removed the old beat up stock window channel. Then I put the glass and riser back in so that the crank would lift the window properly. I left the bottom bolts for the window guides loosly bolted to allow movement and easier pushing. Of course there was a lot of slop between the glass and the door frame without the old channels. Then I cut two pieces of the new Whitney channel to 31 inches and with a slight upward angle cut to the outside [so that the point will mate up with the top existing rubber inside the door frame]. I used straight dish soap to lube the outside of the new channel and I used a spray bottle of water to keep things wet. Then you have to push the new channel down between the frame and the window glass. I just grabbed it with both hands and started inching it down. It went down without any problem----I did have to re-align it from time to time but the window glass makes it follow true. I did the rear edge of the window first, then the front edge second. It was best to do this pushing from the outside of the door because the door is somewhat curved and it is easier to get aligned. The actual insertion of the two channels took only about 10 minutes---it's the rest of the disassembly/assembly is what took so long. I did go ahead adn lube the riser and gears etc. though. I have the Whitney order form here for you guys to use if you want. These are what whitney used to locate the part. Location:R-01-82-F6, MFG Part No.:75000096, Item no.: 184852 Steel Core Window Channel, Price (2): 69.97 (includes shipping). Well, there you have it.... If you have any questions, be sure to e-mail me. I have to tell you again...they fit perfectly!!! Don Haywood
