i am fairly new to the LUV scene working on rebuilding a 1980 LUV mikado. unfortunately it is missing a couple parts from the engine which is the stock G180 block.
missing more than i think is really worth hunting down such as... valve cover, distributor, radiator hoses, a lot of the bolts from the cylinder head. and im unsure of the condition of the starter and alternator
i found a donor engine, the 1.9L G200 engine with a blown head gasket for $150,
so my question is would be...
would i be able to pull the G200 out of the other luv, and put on my G180 head and head gasket with the G200's valve cover since there may have been slight damage to the G200's head when the gasket was blown from heat and i need reliability seeing as im driving from Washington to Arizona this summer and the compression boost would make driving a little more fun too...
does it all fit? G200 block, G180 head and gasket W/G200 valve cover?
and would i have to make any modifications to the head? i have a milling machine i can use if i need to widen out the water jackets on the head at the opening to allow more free flow if that might become a problem which i gathered could pose a problem from another post but wasn't sure if there were other problems i would need to be looking out for ??
any tips or information on the topic would be much appreciated
