Just thought I'd throw this up here in case future Luv-ites are wondering. The fuel pump in my '79 failed today following a badly plugged fuel filter. It had been making noise for some time, so I guess I was living on borrowed time anyway.

Of course nobody in this little town stocked the pump, and the OEM replacements were 2-3 days out. So, I noticed they had a universal fit Mr. Gasket 42S rated at 2-3.5 psi for $40. Picked it up, installed it in less than 15 minutes, and the truck runs beautifully. Just take the 90 degree elbows from the old pump and screw one in on the inlet side of the new pump. The outlet hose is long enough to accommodate the new pump.

I understand that some have had issues with these pumps in the past, so I'm going to buy another one as a spare and keep it in the truck.

Anybody else tried these before?

Not sure what brand I have. No better than Mr Gasket. It has run fine for at least 10 years and maybe longer. Much longer than any of several OEM type replacements.
