Okay, so after countless hours, the noise remains. Here's what it's doing:

- When cold/sitting for any decent amount of time (hour or so maybe), no noise.
- After driving a while, makes a metal/metal low rubbing noise (not high and squeely)
- After driving a while, makes the same noise while rolling/coasting slowly. Gets really drawn out the slower you go.

I've already replaced both inner/outer wheel bearings on both sides and replaced the caliper.

Anyone else have this issue and figured out what it was?

Could the backing plate be bent and rubbing the rotor or wheel?
Put the front end on jack stands, get under there, and spin the wheel. Look around.

Swap the two front wheels and see if it moves to the other side. If so you have a defective tire. Steel belts can go bad inside the tire. Rare, but it happens.

I'm going to tear into it this weekend, it's driving me nuts. I'll check on the backing plate and swap the tires and see if there's any difference. The only thing that sucks is it usually only does it once it's been driving and everything has had a chance to warm up, which is why I suspected the wheel bearings but it doesn't seem like that was the case.

Figuarus, I did work on the brakes and have taken them apart and put them back together since but it didn't seem to make a difference. I'll be inspecting it again for signs of odd wear and what not when I get into it. Was there anything you did that you might suspect is the issue?

if you removed the pads and didnt greast the slide joints for the caliper, it may be contributing to excessive drag from the rotor rubbing against the pads.
i got lazy last night and didnt check it again, but i'd be willing to bet money that that will be a contributing factor.

besides, i've heard bad wheel bearings, and if it was a bearing, you would not only hear it at certain spots, it would be constant as you turn the wheel.

ok a couple things i can think of right off the bat.
when you changed the bearings did you pound out the races and change them also? some people dont. its a pain but you always should.

have you checked the u joints on driveline? i know you said it sounds like its coming from the front but when the u joints start squeeking its hard to pinpoint where its coming from as the sound tends to bounce around under the truck.

I did change the races and, yes, they were a pain in the ass. I ended up breaking off the caliper and taking the pads out and one of the pads was really difficult to put in and take out so I did some clearance work on one of little metal arms of the pad and it seems to have cleared up the rubbing noise that occurred when I turn, however the noise remains when the truck is slowly creeping forward.

I will be checking the driver's side now and see if there are any tolerance issues there as well.

As far as the u-joints go, I haven't looked at them.

It may be a warped rotor.

i listened to the sounds and turns out mine was just the pads rubbing against the rotor. lubed the caliper slide joint and sound almost went away completely
