Hi everyone,

I just bought a 1980 4x4, the heat light is on all the time and the temperature gauge is inoperative, I think it may be the cooling sensor, but this truck has being neglected for long time and the engine is covered with mud and can’t find the sensor to replace it, does anyone know where is the sensor located?

Look under the intake manifold just behind the distributor.

What state are you in? My 80 4x4 is in Calfornia, and there's a sensor that screws into the catalytic convertor (I think this is CA only) and that caused my heat light to come on.
