I just want to fidn the money no matter, I want to give my mom her ranger back and I cant keep from tearign the chevette up so I need a nice cheap vehicle to get me where I go, and I've always got excited over anything diesel......

i'm a aircraft fueler out here at the airport so i deal with jet-a, 100ll,auto gas, deisel, and dyed diesel. i've had a couple girls come up to me and tell me i smelled good. they look at me wierd when i tell them their smelling jet fuel. 100ll (what dragsters run) smells really good. we get guys coming in all the time wanting some 100ll. they have to sign a contract saying it's not for racing

Our fuel prices here are running around 1.35 per gal.for low grade. You don't want to run any of that jet fuel in a stock engine ..i believe it would burn out the jets in your carb! Maybe ya could bottle some of that 100ll and put it on the market as mens cologne! Websters says colognes = "Perfumed toilet water".

For the LUV, the first year diesel was available was for the 1981 Chevy LUV. That 1978 LUV, cannot be a stock diesel out of the factory, but maybe it is. I know that 72-80 LUVs just had the 1.8 gas for a choice and thats all. If the 78 is a factory diesel, it is sure hard to believe.

i think it could be possible that diesel luvs started to come out since they change over the engine to the new style engine but i do know my Dad took a 78 longbed diesel luv to El Salvador and sold it  but its very possible that all generation luvs where available in diesel too just not many here in the US

It is common with these trucks to just toss the body and keep the engine.

Many trucks rust and rott away, and with the diesel engine they will run well into the 300,000 mark.

A easy way to tell if the truck was from the factory with the diesel, look at the fuel gauge. If it says "diesel fuel only" then chances are it is factoy. Yes I know some one could add a sticker or change a dash, but on both of my trucks it is printed just like the temp gauge or speedo.

Also check under the sun visor and look for "diesel starting instructions" sticker. This sticker has oil choices for temp, and a list of steps to use when using a glow plug engine.
