Well, the local shindig was today, around 50,000 estimated people in attendance. My sister in law and her husband own a restaurant and each year they put on a cancer benefit in memory of a mutual friend. He was a liquor rep, and a popular guy, so there was plenty of donated food and drink. There were over 500 advanced tickets sold for our event, at $40 a pop, which entitled the purchaser to all the food, and drink they could imbibe from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, along with 3 local live bands. Another brother in law and I cooked 175 lbs of beef brisket, 250 lbs of hamburger, 150 lbs of hotdogs, and 100 lbs of bun length smoked sausage for this event. In addition, we also cooked 30 gallons of red beans, 20 lbs of Jasmine rice, and 50 gallons of chicken and sausage jambalaya. There was also a brunch served with sausage and eggs prepared by us, as well as breakfast casseroles, and assorted pastries and fruits. There was 20 gallons of swamp juice, 20 gallons of mai tai, 20 gallons of something called gator, and 2 more 20 gallons of some stuff, I can't recall. There was a portable keg trailer with 14 kegs of beer, 10 cases of wine, and how much other liquor, no one knows. I do know I consumed WAY too much Bacardi 151 Long Island Iced Teas, got 49 strings of beads from the parade folks, and saw more cleavage than should be legal. Next time, I am buying a cam corder, lol...
