Hello everyone!

I'm Trent and new to this forum and the chevy luvers!

I just purchased a 1976 luv in fair condition for $600
The engine ran well enough and did not smoke. Some mild cancer but nothing irreparable.
I was expecting to tear down the carb.

So once I tore it down it appears i am missing a spring, a check valve ball, and the jets were misplaced by the previous owners.

Does anyone have a quality exploded view with an appropriate table which lists the jet sizes and their appropriate places!?!
Maybe someone would be kind enough to scan these out of their manual and email them to me?

I appreciate any help.

I have exhausted google and this forum. I have found many diagrams that were close but not exact and simply did not list the places for the jets!?

Thanks again in advance!

Welcome. I posted the same thing about mine. I turned it upside down and had a spring and ball fall out, but no idea where they go. Ended up buying ctmandu's Weber. I too would still like to see an exploded view of the Hitachi just to know where they go. Do you have the spring and ball and just don' know where to put them or know that the carb should have them and yours didn't?

Thank you so much ethelkilledfred!
I agree chevyluv1980.

This is very helpful! Do you also have pages 3-5 and 3-7. I believe the numbers of the jets and their associated sizes may be on there?

Thanks so much again!

If it kills me i am going to get this hitachi to run properly. Even if I replace it the following day!!!

Hi Trent,

The check ball and spring may have come from the pump discharge area - which means you may have lost the pointed weight that goes with it. It could also be from the accelerator pump assembly. It's a rather large spring though, but the ball is easily lost... (been there).

Regarding the jets, the placement is based on looking at the carb. from the front (float side) and right side up.

The main primary jet is on the left side and is #103, (#114 if in Calif.). The secondary main jet is on the right and is #170, (#160 if in Calif).

The primary slow jet is on the left side and is #50, (#45 if in Calif.). The secondary slow jet on the right side is #100 only.

The primary main air bleed on the left of the power valve and is #50, (#80 if in Calif.). The secondary main air bleed is to the right and is #50 only.

The primary slow air bleed is on the left and is #160, (#140 if in Calif.). The secondary slow air bleed is #70.

Hope this helps!

One thing...
The information that I gave you is from a 1978 service manual. It should be the same for a 1979 Hitachi (which is the thread title) - but your truck is a 1976...
