Well I am about to become a LUV owner for the second time. Just waiting for the current owner to finish cleaning out his garage so I can pick it up.

My first LUV was a 76 stepside that I bought in 1981 and drove it for work, but did a few things to it to make it cool. I will try and dig up a picture of it to post. I put in bucket seats, lowered it, old school headlight covers and a tube grille I also put come International tailights into the rear fenders which was a popular stepside mod at the time.

Unfortunately when I did an engine swap I took off all of the smog equipment then about a year later CA started doing the annual smog checks and I had to let it go. It went to Yakima Washington where my sister kept it for several years before it died. My understanding is that the new owner did a V8 swap and it was used for drag racing. It would be a trip to find it after all of these years. So if you know of a formerly yellow 76 stepside with a V8 in the Yakima area I may have some vintage pics of it.

My "New" LUV is a 75 shortbed, which no longer requires a smog check here in CA so I am ready to have some fun.

I just sold my 63 chevy stepside that I have had for the last 20 years to a car collector from Sweden and am ready to start a new project.

I have already found some good info here and will keep reading and learning.

Three Amigos

I finally scanned in some pics of my old 76 stepside. The first shot was early on (81)with a ratty tube grill and the turbo mags. The second shot is mid ownership with chrome spokes lowered and a square tube grill. I guess I was ahead of my time with the smoked side markers. It eventually had a visor but no pics.

last pic is my 74 Rotary Mazda PU which I tricked out quite a bit at the time 77-79 and eventually totaled. I wanted a LUV when I bought it, but the Mazda was so much faster.
