hi guys
im from australia and im having alot of trouble finding info here. i own a 80 isuzu kb25 4x2 with a 1.8l which is the australian version of the luv, identical just a different name. i am looking to do a v6 conversion using the commodore 3.8( again the australian buick 3800), i was wondering if you can buy kits consisting of mounts and other things that will be needed when doing the conversion. a was also wondering what a common brake upgrade is as if possible i will source parts from the states to make in easier.at the moment my car is only running drum front and rear which i would like fro atleast the front to be disc.
any information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the site Luke. There are no v6 conversion kits available for your KB25 here in Australia, all mounts will have to be fabricated by yourself. Custom wiring looms however are available for the v6 commodore engine, computer and electronically controlled auto trans. There is a page on this site also of a "How To" modify your gearbox crossmember to make it removable and more suitable for a trans conversion.
Brake upgrades are limited to fitting parts from 81-87 Holden Rodeo's and some early Jackaroos, these upgrades are a easy bolt on.

ok so i will have to make mounts. that is not a big problem. do you know where i can find more info on the wiring loom etc for the commodore? hoping to run a manual trans.

I will find you the link or ph.# for the wiring loom. Castlemaine Rod Shop make adapter plates for the Commodore v6 to fit a few different manual boxes.

wht parts from the early rodeo do i need for th upgrade.? i know rotors and calipers. but what about thing such as the hubs and spindles? alo do you know if the later model v6 brakes would also be a straight forward swap or a bit more messing around than the earlier

Use the stub axles, hub and caliper brackets from early rodeo, use the rotor and caliper from the early jackaroo. Rodeos use a thin solid rotor whereas the Jack uses a thicker vented rotor. Im currently looking into useing 96 Jackaroo rotors and calipers

i have now brought the donor car it is a vn commodore with manual box. so am i able to use the mounts made for the buick to luv or will i have to make them? and also with that link there is not kb25 as an option so which loom do i have to purchase?

There is no loom specific for a KB25. You need to ring and give them details, they need to know the year of motor and computer details. They make mounts to fit v6 into geminis, rodeos and jackaroos, these mounts may fit your Luv.

really wanting to know the differencebetween the mounts for the buick to luv and why they would not work in the kb25. the motor is a series 2, i know the series 1 were actually the exact buick motor. so does that mean that is th mounts in the kb25 that are different to the luv? and also is the any cutting required to the firewall? for the ones that have done the conversion have you used the commodore radiator and fan because it measures to long with these still on

Have you spoken to http://www.v6conversions.com.au/RODEO.HTM about engine mounts. If they don't know what a kb25 is tell them its the same chassis as a 81 kb Rodeo. You should be able to buy mounts in Aust or fab them up cheaper than importing what with currency conversion and shipping costs etc. Im not 100% sure, but i think series 1 and 2 engines share a common block. Cutting of the firewall should not be necessary, maybe a little massage with hammer same with the tunnel. Use your stock radiater but have it recored to a 3 row and have the inlet/outlet moved to correct sides. Fit aftermarket thermo fans also.

cheers dude. i hadnt spoke to them cause i wasnt 100% surewhat i needed. that should fix the problem with the length by using stock radiator and thermo fans.
