http://www.gallery.me.com/boxner#100261 This is a link to the pics I took, used good camera couldn't get pice small enough to post...

Any way im trying to figure out wiring on coil... Ive posted some problems and know that on the coil itself has on the neg side the Black/red wire and on the positive side it has the solid black wire and the black/yellow coming from coil resistor.

the coil resistor gets extremely hot when the key is on position

Question is from the same spot that those wires come from harness there is a black with light blue stripe that I have no idea what it goes to...

And below that around where wire going to dizzy comes out of harness there is a green wire that i have no idea what it goes to as well..

SO if you could help out with these two wires i would much appreciate it.

My book doesn't list the wiring by year, rather goes by series. Do you know what the series no. is?

I might have it.
The Black wire with the Light Blue Stripe runs from the Coil POSITIVE to the Resister By-Pass Relay #3. This relay has only four wires.
The Green wire goes to the Air Conditioner Compresser.

My book only shows series 8 through 11 and they are all the same.

i wondered about that damn green wire i dont have ac at all but guess thats why stupid wire isn't hooked to anything i wish i had the ac though!!

You can bypass the resister, but the points won't last as long. The resister lowers the voltage through the points which helps prolong their life and reduces the pitting that occurs with arcing. This does not reduce the voltage going to the plugs as that is handled by the coil itself.
Check to see if your console has A/C on it and if it does but you don't have a compresssor under the hood, someone removed it! You MIGHT be able to go with an aftermarket compressor and get the A/C operating. Though I do not know if there is a size or capacity rating to watch for. Of course there is the condenser, dryer, etc. Vintage air may also have a unit to it the LUVwhen/if you decide to get one.

If you bypass the resistor the points will not last long and the coil won't either. The black/blue wire is the bypass while cranking circuit. It supplys a full 12 volts to the coil while cranking only.
