I was looking through an Isuzu shop manual, and noticed that there was a limited slip rear end available as an option on a mid 80's Rodeo (or something like that).

Will it fit and how do I identify it? Oh, and is it 1:4.10? A LUV with limited slip in the rear would be unstoppable.
1980 4X4.

The Rodeo (US SUV, not the foreign pickup) LSD is a Dana 44, came in 4.10 & 4.30 ratios, the housing is 4" wider than a LUV. G80 code on the underhood firewall option plate on any Isuzu indicates LSD. Sometimes with Dana rears they have a tag on the cover with the ratio & an "L", or indicates LSD lube only.
The only factory LSD for the Isuzu 10-bolt (that came in all LUV rears) came in '88 & '89 Impulse turbo's, they were 3.90 ratio & rare, but the LSD carrier could be mated to the LUV ring and pinion. I have found them for $150 at car-parts.com.
I figured out how to mount an Aussie Locker into both my 10-bolt rears- love 'em.

Hmm... I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for the Impulse rear. Checked on the one at car-parts for $150, and it's not from a turbo. Bummer. Oh well.
This might be a good bit of information for everyone though... if my Dad (previous owner) had known this little tid-bit in '89 when the family first got ahold of the truck, there'd be one in it now.

So, what's the Aussie locker all about?

I am looking at using an early Toyota 4X4 rear end asy. (same width as the LUV) then use a Toyota V6 LSD witch is just about bullet proof.

wouldnt you need to make sure it's the same ratio as the front?

That is, if you have 4wd...

Yeah, you would. Otherwise, you'd have axles trying to go two different speeds. That's why I'm gonna try to find the Impulse rear first. Swap the LUV ring and pinion into the LSD carrier, like oldestisuzuist mentioned. I'm not too sure what the ratios on the Yota axles are, but if they're 4.10:1, I'd use them. They sound one heckuva lot more common.

4.10 ratio seems to be the most common in Toyota 4x4's. The e-brake mounts differently, would need modification. '84 or '85 are the preferred years.

the trans in the 88/89 I-marks is a isuzu MSG, but a taller O\D gear :P .

there may be more years with the right trans, but 88/89 are the LSD years.
