Ok guys, this has been driving me crazy for months now. There was a movie in the late 70's early 80's. It was about a kid who drove a black car, I think it was a chevelle or camaro. He did lots of street racing. The local high school was shutting down or something, but they needed lots of money. So, the kid makes a bet that he can go 20 miles in 20 minutes through town or something like that. Supposedly, only one person has ever done it, a guy they called Fast Freddy back in the 50's who drove a 57 Belair. The only actor I can remember is Geoffrey Lewis. He is the principal of the school and he turns out to be Fast Freddy. The guy he makes the bet against destoys his car the day before the race, so he needs a car. The principal pulls his 57 out of a secret hiding place buried in his field. I thought the movie was called "eat my dust" but that one has Ron Howard in it and has a different story. This is driving me INSANE!!!
I saw it when I was a kid, it was kinda old even then. My parents don't remember it, so I was hoping maybe one of you guys might. Please help put my mind at ease so I can get some friggin' sleep.
Thanks

Hmmmmm that sounds like a new one to me. I buy movies from Main Attractions (not on the web i dont think) and their catalog pretty much has a description of all car movies ever made... don't rememeber anything like that.

not to be a thread jacker but... anybody ever see the Tales from the crypt episode with Brad Pitt driving the 69 chevelle, terrorizing the town... and some cops daugther? Anyway the cop decides to fight fire with fire and his street racing past comes back to haunt him as he dusts off his nasty ass '57 chevy and takes to the streets as "iceman". I'd like to get a copy of that episode if anybody has that on tape.

 Well I probably could have found it faster but since I am in Kuwait, and surfing on a government computer that has blocks and filters on virtually every damn thing that is interesting online........thank god theres not one for this site
It took me that long just to try to get around the filters and crap to finally get an actual bio on the movie just to make sure I had the right one!!
