Has anyone used one of the fiberglass hoods made by FeatherCarbon out of Suffolk VA. ? Look like race weight only and I was curios about the fit and quality. Thanks

I wish they made a hood without the cowl, but $700 is expensive.

Yeah, I'm looking at the fiberglass cowl hood. I can't afford the carbon fiber version.

My painter is using the steel hood and fiberglassing a cowl scoop into it. I will take some pics on how it turns out. If it ends up cracking out guess I will have to bite the bullet and get one of these....

Not a problem here. I probably won't be racing my truck right away as I will be getting the daughter started. You still got a bumper for me yet?

If the hood is fabricated with epoxy, you can mix some epoxy, thin it out with a little MEKP, and spray the hood. (If the hood has a fiberglass matrix, it can still be done with epoxy but you must spray very light coats and spray again when the first coat become tacky.) DO NOT APPLY FIRBERGLASS RESIN OVER EPOXY. IT WILL POP OFF! Of course you need to scuff it up first and be extremely careful using MEKP. That stuff will knock your d!(k in the dirt! It is strong! Wear gloves and a respirator. An inexpenive carbon filter one will work as long as you have decent ventilation. Scuff between coats and shoot two or three, let fully cure, and polish. We did many carbon fiber and graphite parts this way in the Air Force. Once you spary a coaedt, remove the paint cup, cover it with plastic and place it in the refrigerator to impeade the curing. Clean the gun thouroughly. When getting ready for the next coat, let the cup of epoxy come to room temperature with the cover in place. A touch of MEKP may be needed again. If it is too thick to spary, discard it and mix up a fresh batch. We had heat lamps to speed up the curing which took about 90 minutes per coat. Got beautiful results. Of course, experiment on some metal pieces or something else first to get the hang of spraying epoxy.
