Until I begin my final swap of the engine I want to have the current one as problem free as I can. I received my 32/36 today and will install it this weekend, so that fixes the fuel. Now the spark!

I'm looking at purchasing a distributor that fits an '83-97 iMark, Trooper and Pup with the G180Z or G200Z.

I saw in another post that mentioned that all of the '82 models used the same HEI and this is verified on car-part.com, but since the engine continued onwards after the LUV was replaced will this ignition bolt-in the same way or will it require anything external or additional?

I'm not too sure of the years but I believe an 82 or 83 required an external ignitior (if that's what its called). A new ignitor will cost around $250. I would suggest to get one from an 86' that had the ignitor built in. Hopefully, Ctmandu will come along and explain more in detail.

This is what I'm looking at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... K:MEWAX:IT

Since it fits an 83-87 I would imagine it has an internal coil, right?

i have what looks to be the same distributor (mine is for an 81 imark) and it required an external ignition module that mounted ot the coil bracket. As someone else said, i think i would look for the later model with the internal module if you can. That external module was around $154 when i had to buy one

Okay, so I made it out to the parts yard today and found a '93 Isuzu Pickup with what looked like a G200. (I couldn't find any engine codes on the block due to the grime.)

I got the distributor and coil (wish I could've found one with it built in, but oh well) but wanted to see if anyone else was familiar with it or could tell me if I picked up a correct unit:

Took me a half hour to get it clean enough to take pictures of, lol. Let me know if this will work!

All of the Isuzu dist have external coils,it's the ignition module that is either internal or external with the internal one the preferred one.

I have the internal one on my 4X4 truck and it is the first thing a person should do to there truck as you can not believe the difference on how they run and start.

Admittedly, I have some things to learn about distributors!

So I guess the better question would have been:

Is the above unit a distributor with an internal ignition module and does anyone know if it will work for me? lol

Edit:

After looking through wikipedia, the only engines available for that pickup were the 2.3/2.6L... ctmandu and others stated to have used them so they must be compatible, correct?

Here are some additional pics...

It is manufactured by Mitsubishi but definitely came off of an Isuzu.

If you haven't figured it out by now that's the wrong dizzy for your application. Besides being from the wrong engine series, it's also one of the later ones (88-up) that works with the ECU (computer)

I had a feeling, that's what I was looking for. Some of the posts I went through were confusing.

I went off of ctmandu's link and in it it stated Dustinicus said "I was rooting around one of the local scrap yards and found a 95 pu'p that had a G200 and the electronic ignition"

The wiki stated that the only engines after 88 for the Pups were the 2.3/2.6, so I thought it might have still been compatible. I'm glad the parts yard has a 30-day return policy.

THIS is what I need to find:

I'm sure Dustinicus meant to say an 85 pup so the mistake causes some confusion.

The link you provided is the proper one. If you are stuck with the other one you can probably sell it to someone that needs it. They are quite pricey at the parts store-around $200 depending on if you have the core trade-in.
