 Post subject: front end trorque specs

I am looking for the torque specs for everything in the front of the luv suspension. All new parts going in and want to make sure it is right and not going to come loose again THX

oops i forgot about that it is a 77. I have it torn down all the way to frame rails to powder coat everything so basically the more i find out the better thanks

ok, so you have a series 6.

These are the specs i'm pulling from the Haynes manual

Tie Rod Ball joint nuts - 43.5 Ft Lbs
Idler Arm mounting bolts - Large - 50.5 small 20
idler arm intermediate rod nut - 43.5
idler arm to pivot shaft - 87
pitman arm intermediate rot nut - 43.5
intermediate rod locknuts - 87
pitman arm to sector shaft nut - 160
steering gear mounting bolts - large 55 - small 20
steering wheel nut - 25
coupling bolts - 18
shaft coupling damper bolts - 20
lower coupling/wormshaft clamp bolt - 20
column to cowl panel screws - 10
combination switch screws - snug

ball joint stud nut - upper and lower - 75
ball joint to lower arm - 45

control arm pivot to frame - upper - 50
lower - 130

shock absorber - upper 18
lower - 130

stabilizer bar - nuts 7
lock nuts - 18

lower control arm to crossmember - 130

adapter and dust shield to knuckle bolts - large 55/ small - 35/ wheel stud nuts - 65

wheel bearing adjustment - 22
strut bar to lower control arm - 45

strut bar to frame
nut -15
locknut - 50

in case you need the rear :

axle to U bolts - 40
shackle pins - 95

thanks again the one i dont see is the X-member bolts i pulled everything that unbolts off to clean and have coated. When i get parts back i will be posting pics and may also need the manual pics but over all it is pretty basic.

Ummm, thanks for the reminder...

I have my son's front suspension completely disassembled also - putting in all new parts and cleaning and painting.
And I wasn't even thinking about reassembling with proper torque. Image

I am now!

If was made a sticky i would think it is a good idea to also add exploded views for those who tear everything down and can not remember exact spot for parts that always makes for a good time!

There is such a thing as too tight... but you might be surprised how tight things might have to get.
You might discover that tight as you can get it still isn't tight enough. The front spindle nuts on the Civic that I recently fixed called for 137lb.ft.
Suspension is definitely something that you don't want to have fall apart at some random time... 8O
