:signiagree Its the 5th day in a row here of clouds, rain and fog. It has been that way for 3 months now, 1 day of sun, then 5-6 days of clouds, rain, and gloomy, gray weather. I will be soooo glad when this weather pattern finally breaks. It has been so long, I can't remember the last time we had more than 2 days of sun in a row. RAIN SUCKS!!

You got a plan there brother.

When we killed a hog, you scrape it, not skin it. At least that is the old timey way I was taught. You heat water in a big cast iron pot till boiling, poor some of the water on the hog( it is already dead kiddies) wait a little bit and "scrape" the hair off the hide with a big knife, repeat as needed . You can use just about every thing but the squeal... And that my friends is what the old timers did. I won't get specif about it , but hog head cheese is just about what it sounds like. Blutwurst is another one. My kids know that meat does not just come in a nice sealed package in the store  My in laws are Old Texas German. My wife is 2nd generation American.

Back on subject, no rain today but 50% chance tomorrow. I did get to hang most of the Christmas lights.

It still has the hide on it. My bad for saying skin. These are scalded and hair scraped just like you mentioned. That's the only way!! Hell I'm getting hungry again. I love pork but you can have the hogs head cheese. I've had it once...that was enough.

Been snowing off and on all day, warmed up from -17 this morning at 5 am to -9 now when I came home. At least we're going in the right direction.

I knew what you meant.... It would only take a little cooking to tell it still had hair on it.
No head cheese for me either. My wife loves the stuff and Pigs feet too. I make no excuse for her food tastes. She had them long before I was around.... Hell she likes sauerkraut. Not much better than good BBQ pork, well just pork.

No rain, just heavy fog.

Crazy foggy... incredibly weird for Sonora. Almost looked like something was on fire around noon, the fog bank rolling in and all.
Something like 1/4 mile vis, less with the headlights on.

From -12 to 49 degrees this week so far and now looking for temps in the 30's and more snow. Crazy weather....actually typical for Montana, as long as we stay above zero I don't mind so much.
