That really sounds like the fuel pump is putting too much up there and the float is stuck. Assuming you know the previous owner (I think earlier in this thread you said you got the truck from your uncle?) try to ask if they adjusted the carburetor. Do you have a shop manual for your truck? They're definitely good to have. The Isuzu Rodeo/Trooper/P'up Chilton has the G-180 engine that was used in the 76 and later models. The LUV specific Chilton is good for the body/chassis/suspension/wiring.

After you rebuild the carburetor (with it being a 76 LUV, it probably sat for a good amount of time before you bought it, so that's a good idea) wire the fuel pump in the right way.

Just looked at the wiring diagram (http://www.luvtruck.com/PDF/Series5.pdf) and the fuel pump relay is a 5 prong, two way job.

ill definately have to try and get a chilton's and the other one for the rodeo/trooper/pup.

my uncle actually bought the truck for me from another guy back home so i dont know the other owner but my uncle might. ill have to check with him on that.

but on the carb situation.... im gonna go home and rebuild the one that came with my uncles '78. its not the stock carb so i gotta see if everything will match up but i am gonna try and get a new fuel pump fuel filter and a new relay for it. hopefully i can get it wired up right in a decent amount of time. but i will bring everything back and it will sit for another two weeks because we have gunnery starting the same day that we get back from leave. its a huge pain in the ass but we gotta do it and im excited about it. (gonna earn my tanker boots...... HELL YEAH!) if you wanna know what tanker boots are just google them.

ok so i wont be anywhere around my truck for the next two weeks. kinda sucks that i wont be around it to try and figure out whats wrong with it but i am still gonna try to rebuild a carb for it. but when i do get back i will be doing gunnery for another two weeks so that is four weeks of me not being able to touch my truck wich really blows. but oh well. gotta live with it.

All the time spent now allows for more time to work later...
Once you get them right, these little trucks are amazing. 299,063 miles on my truck, 3rd engine (1st wore out, 2nd lost to stupidity) little whine in the transmission, and some wear in the drive train.
So, that truck will last long enough for you to give it to your kid (lol, that's how I got mine!)
Keep with it, it's worth it.

lol, I'd definitely get a bike. Especially around Ft. Irwin. Quite a bit of sun down there, but maybe the A/C would be worth the whole loss in gas mileage.

Wow... 127? It gets much over 105 around here and people start to freak out.
lol, rode a bike in that sort of heat... not fun. Last summer, I took a drive to San FranFreako and the inside of my LUV's cab got to 120... not fun either.

Maybe the bike can be your winter vehicle?
