I had recently had a blown headgasket on my 180 and I had an extra head from a 200. I was curious if the displacement is in the head or block and does the head make a difference? I own a 79 LUV. Thanks :)

The head has nothing to do with the displacement but is very important to compression ratio. Could also have different valves and clearance with the pistons.

if you use the 200 head, you lose compression since the combustion chamber is enlarged, and you dont have as much stroke to compensate.

It shoots excess fuel out of the carb and doesn't start anymore. It started once and it was very loud.

thats weird. i've never heard of that happening when increasing the cyl displacement. are you running the stock carb?

yes, but I think that is also part of the problem. Part of the carb isn't getting power from the speed sensor and therefor won't idle. It had this problem before the head problem but I can't troubleshoot the carb without a working engine.
