I've searched here and can't seem to find exactly this same scenario, but apologies if this is a repeat.

It should also be said that the temp here has been below zero all day, so I imagine the cold might be a factor.

This morning I noticed that the gen light was on, but was very, very dim...to the point that if you were in direct sunlight you couldn't see it. In the dark, it's visible. The light only comes on when the blower motor or the wipers are running. It doesn't come on when the headlights are on. If the blower motor is on and the truck is revved up, it will brighten slightly and then dim down again with the RPM's sustained at 2000+.

Off, the battery shows exactly 12v. Running, no accessories on it shows a tad over 13v at idle, about 14v at about 2500rpm. With any headlights on it reads slightly above 12, and at 2500 rpm it reads slightly over 13v. Is this anything I need to be concerned about?

Give this a try. I have it bookmarked because it helped me out before. Maybe it will help you as well. Fues box issues seems to be a common issue with these rigs. If not good luck and let us know what you find out.

I vote to check the battery. My light acted exactly like yours when my battery was low on electrolyte. I added some and charged it up, and it was fine. In fact, I vote further for the battery when you consider it's cold out. Batteries don't work as well when it's cold. The alternator is supposed to run the truck, but with these small, externally regulated jobs you end up running off the battery more than you should.

You have a high resistance problem between the ignition switch and the alternator field. Usually a wire connection somewhere and the fuse box is a good place to start.

mine did this for a long time. The gen light would glow slightly with blower motor running, or when flashers were on and headlights on. It has since quit but mine seemed to be related to the blower motor drawing a lot of amps. More than it should so when I replaced it with a different one that fixed part of the probelms. When I repaired some poopy wires for the headlights, i cleaned up the ground points all around and now the only time my gen light glows is with the blower and lights on and the stereo blaring.

Yes, please share. I'd like to know where it was grounding.
